(New Brunswick, NJ) – The Alumnae Association of Omega Phi Chi Sorority is commencing a clothing drive, which will involve collecting women’s clothing during the entire month of April. This clothing drive will take place specifically in the Florida and New Jersey regions. The association hopes to bring awareness to the issues of domestic violence and homelessness. Additionally, this drive is meant to support and encourage disadvantaged women who are making the journey to a more favorable future. Please read below to learn more about the Alumnae Association and its clothing drive in the different regions throughout the month of April.

Making a difference in Florida. The alumnae sisters of Omega Phi Chi in Miami, Florida will help support the women residing at the Lotus House by initiating a clothing drive during the month of April. Omega Phi Chi is excited to support the cause to help women, specifically victims of domestic violence, in the Miami area who are in their journey to a better life through a second chance in building a more promising future. Throughout that process, women will go through interviews and training for their new life. In order to help facilitate their goals with this incentive, Omega Phi Chi will help collect items that will be useful for them for when they go to interviews and training sessions. If you are interested in making donations of new or gently used clothing for women in the Florida region, please feel free to contact Bonnie Galvez via email bnngalvez@gmail.com. The final collection will take place on Sunday, April 27th.

The alumnae sisters of Omega Phi Chi in New Jersey will help support women through the Covenant House in Newark, NJ by initiating a clothing drive during the month of April. The final collection will take place on Sunday, April 27th. Anyone willing to donate new and gently worn women’s clothing, including professional attire, in the New Jersey region please feel free to contact the Alumnae Association of Omega Phi Chi Sorority via email at alumnae@omegaphichi.org.

About Covenant House

Covenant House, which was established in 1989, is the largest provider to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth between the ages of 16-21 in the state of New Jersey. This organization provides a wide range of services, from fulfilling a youth’s immediate needs of food, shelter, and clothing, to providing them with medical care, education and vocation services, counseling, legal services, life skills, education, recreation, aftercare, pastoral care, drug abuse treatment and prevention support.
