Statement on Hazing

  • No person, whether pledge or sister, shall be subjected to any physical or mental anguish that may result in physical or mental harassment or that might inspire fear or embarrassment; nor any other ritual, ceremony or hazing that could be deemed to be abusive or harmful by the average person.
  • Omega Phi Chi Sorority, Inc. firmly believes that true sisterhood should put forth a sense that encourages respect for authority and loyalty to the principals of higher education in an atmosphere that is morally and socially just for all.
  • True social behavior can only be legislature upon sound moral and social principals and Omega Phi Chi Sorority, Inc. believes that our society has an obligation to develop its members, pledges, and sisters alike, in an atmosphere of higher education with high moral standards; Omega Phi Chi Sorority, Inc. is obligated not only to the sisters, but to all the school, community, family and a nation as a whole.
  • Hazing cannot be tolerated by an organization that truly believes in equality of its members. It is a barbaric custom that has no place in today's society and should not be condoned by anyone.
 

Risk Avoidance Policy

  • NO alcohol or drugs will be tolerated at any Rush activity.
  • There will be NO HAZING AT ALL at any Rush Function. Hazing is more specifically set forth in our statement on hazing with is made a part hereof.
  • NO member of the public will be allowed to attend any of our social functions. Only members and invited guests will be allowed.
  • The Chapter House, if one is so acquired, shall be diligently checked monthly for safety sake and all proportions to comply with local fire and safety code regulations will be undertaken.
  • Chapters will be Incorporated and required to carry liability insurance in an amount to be determined.
  • Travel arrangements to and from any off campus social functions will be made by our Public Relations Officer through the appropriate outside agency.
  • The Chapters will be engaged in numerous social and charitable activities to improve community acceptance and the general image of Sororities as a whole.
